Some say all the time and some say
not enough. To a degree it depends on the individual and their
responsibilities. What I was once told is that there is a distinct correlation
between success and the amount of time and how hard you work. What was missing
is what you need to prepare to give up. What that was for me was giving my
undivided attention to my children on a more consistent basis. Taking them out
and constantly talking business on my phone. Not being on time to ballet
recitals. Not going to school trips as a chaperone. So what did I do? I spoiled
them with THINGS! Well I now fine myself
later in years and starting to do the same thing all over again. This time at
the expense of spending time with a grandchild.
Why do I bring this up? I would hope that maybe someone
will see themselves and me and re-evaluate "what is important". Realize
that the one way you cannot spoil a child by giving them something. Is giving
yourself. What I must do is insure that I do not relive my mistake. I must do
what God commands us. Not to make something an idol. In that it means spending
too Much time one a particular thing. That could be video games, work, hobbies,
money. You name it. So if you see yourself in this brief story. Think about it!
God Bless
Gary
